I found this site: Understanding Mathematics and would like to recommend it very much. It has some interesting insights into how to learn mathematics – indeed, it also holds a lot of insights for teachers – how they should go about teaching math (didactics of math is a subject suffering from too much neglect).
In essence, learning math is about learning abstract concepts, and not numerical chore.
